'Das Märchen aller Märchen oder Das Pentameron' by Giambattista Basile; illustrated by Franz von Bayros. Published 1909 by G.Müller, Munich & Leipzig.

Description: The Pentamerone is a seventeenth-century fairy tale collection by Italian poet and courtier Giambattista Basile, posthumously published in two volumes by his sister Adriana in Naples, Italy, in 1634 and 1636. Basile recorded and adapted the tales, believed to have been orally transmitted in Crete and Venice, several of which were also further adapted by Charles Perrault and the Brothers Grimm.
